Red Fox Spotted!

The skippers and passengers on a recent River Lagan tour spotted a fox on the river bank along the Annadale Embankment!

We have long maintained that if the grass and flowers are left to grow naturally along the banks this will provide cover for wildlife and protect habitats.
On this particular stretch of the embankment nature WAS allowed to take her course as a test site to research the argument. The appearance of this fox (the first to be seen on the river in over 5 years!) proves the point that, given enough cover and protection, wildlife WILL inhabit the area.

To give credit where it is due, the old Dept.of Environment practice of cutting the river banks each year has been abandoned in favour of allowing nature to take its own course and consequently the banks are now a riot of colour in Spring.
